Did anyone vet the twins little "roast granny" speech last night? Karen Hughes looked like she was trying to shove herself into the fabric of her seat and Cheney looked like his pacemaker was taking a direct hit. Someone skipped out on the public speaking class at Yale/UT. Absolutely the most painful moment in live TV I've ever seen. Anyone notice that Laura whispered "they could hear your voices" as she approached them at the podium?
On to Laura's bit. She plays the demure quiet unassuming Stepford wife well. However, continually using the word compassion without examples leaves a lot to be desired in the convince me arena. I think it's fabulous that she loves little "Bushie" unconditionally but I don't see the guy she's talking about coming through in domestic and international policy making.
Ah-nold. In politics for what, nine months and he's calling economists 'girly-men' because they're pointing out the fiscal nightmare that's been caused by this administration? I'm still wrestling with the actual point of his speech. He's an immigrant, saw Russians, wanted to be a Republican when he saw Nixon, sympathizes with immigrants and thinks we should move ahead. Wow, almost as good as the speech from the 20 year old on Generation X who missed the cutoff by ~4 years or more. It was nice to see him exploit an wounded soldier just to get in his "I'll be back" quote.
It can only get better, right?
