Local Theft

* We can now rule out friendlies as the culprit for my missing J/E '04. Last night two more were stolen from our precinct chair and his neighbor's house. Are the Republicans in the neighborhood (of which they are the majority) so frightened of an opposing view that they need to squelch the minority points of view? When the number of Bush/Cheney signs out number the Kerry/Edwards signs 4 to 1 wouldn't that make their point clearer (assuming they have one)? I guess the high road, for these compassionate conservatives is out of the question this election year. Here's to them driving home their point.

Personal

* This week will see the monkey household travelling to Boston MA to attend, drum roll please, a gay marriage. So not only will we get to experience the history and legacy of the freedom of our nation, but the freedom of two people in love being joined in matrimony. A leap forward in progress is when your kid's first attended wedding is between two people of the same sex and, you get to explain how wonderful it is that their state recognizes this commitment and allows them the freedom to pursue their union. That and the seafood's pretty awesome up there too.

Other Crap

* Gary Trudeau points out in Sunday's strip that Bush 41 falls into the "against us" category as defined by 43.

* Oh the vast irony. Cutting up the flag into the shape of a "W" in support of the pResident who wraps himself in the cape of jingoism. I've seen these now as car stickers and yard signs and am appalled that we seem opposed to burning a flag in protest but for slicing and dicing it to support an adminstration that cheapens it's meaning.

* Not new news, Sinclair broadcasting is demanding that all of their affiliates run an anti-Kerry film days before November 2nd without commercials. Sinclair? Why does that ring a bell? Oh yeah, this. Now, go be pissed off and do something.

* Could there truly be a medical explanation for all the cognitive dissonance?

* Updates from Iraq. WMDs more likely under US occupation? WTF?

Their main line seems pretty tied up. I'm asking them when they are going to show "Going Upriver." Equal time and all...

Unfortunately, Republicans don't have a lock on breeching the bounds of free speech.

There's a jerk on Royal Lane in Dallas who has a pair of commodes on his front lawn. His sign says, "Flush the Johns" - get it? Hey pull my finger!

Sadly, the jerk has suffered the unbearable loss of his toilets, as some other jerk ran them over with his car.

Never fear, replacements are on the way.

Still don't know why someone hasn't filled the toilets with piles of crap labeled "Bush" and "Cheney" ....

Bush/Cheney signs are being stolen too. Apparently the passion for the political season this year is running very high. We seem to have forgotten, and this is courtesy of both parties' candidates and rhetoric, that we are Americans first, Democrats and Republicans second.

The invasion of Iraq was not a mistake.

"This decision is the end of any attempts at appeasement in our land; the end of us urging to get along with the dictators, the end of compromise and the forces of oppression." President Franklin D. Roosevelt upon the passage of the Lend-Lease Act, 1941.

The above quote should hold as true today with the invasion of Iraq as it did upon the US agreeing to lend our military forces to the defeat of facism and to the defense of democracy in 1941. We cannot play the game of appeasement. We cannot play the game of sanctions. Diplomacy and sanctions fail more often than not. The radical Islamic facist forces understand military force. We were not attacked by the Italians or the Germans in the 40's. We were attacked by the Japanese, yet we went to war against the Japanese and their allies. We weren't attacked by Afghanistan, yet their government was allied with al Qaeda and the radical Islamic movement, thus we went to war with them.

Now .. Sinclair .. funny thing is they are doing it for free. Michael Moore is showing F911 on PPV before the election. Sinclair ... free .. MM $$$ . It's funny that the monkeys, who have repeatedly made little of Clinton's sexcapades, now choose to make big of Sinclair boss' sexcapades. Do I detect a bit of a double standard here? Either tune out or tune in, but to do anything else would border on First Amendment violations and surely the Monkeys are about the First Amendment even if it favors their opposition.

The Flag "W" thing .. yeah, it annoys me too. Don't use patriotic symbols as political fodder, please.

The WMD issue is dead, in my opinion. The WHOLE WORLD was wrong. Saddam played the world for suckers. He bluffed. His bluff was called. He lost. Every politician in the world believed he had WMD's and it was only a matter of time before they were used. The only difference of opinion was when to use force, not if force should be used.

I'm the so-called "Jerk" on Royal Lane with the "Flush the Johns!" sign in my yard. It's too bad that Donkeys can't appreciate a sense of humor. Instead of vandalizing my property, why don't they try to exercise their creative juices and come up with their own clever slogans.

My website is www.GrantWalsh.com

Check out my site to see just how much the Bush-hating vandals value freedom of speech and expession.
