Why We Are Sorry

So there are those in this country who wonder why so many American citizens feel the need to apologize to the rest of the world. “’Tis a puzzlement!” they seem to be saying. WHY are we sorry? WHY do we (the reality-based community) feel the need to apologize to the world?

(Fasten your seatbelts boys! This is going to be a bumpy ride.)

I’m so glad you asked, you selfish, self-absorbed, oblivious dolts.

THIS is why. THIS is why.

And don’t give me any of this shit about “Kerry would not have done anything differently in Iraq.” Okay? Because – you festering hemorrhoidal assholes – KERRY IS NOT THE DOUCHEBAG WHO GOT US THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE! Get it? Can I possibly make this any clearer for you dimwitted pinheaded imbeciles who are so clearly out of touch with reality? I don’t give a bloody shit what Kerry “might or might not have done” to get us out of the rotting quagmire that is Iraq today. John Kerry isn’t the one responsible for unilaterally and without provocation bombing the shit out of some country out of pure bloodthirsty GREED. And LYING to the nation about it to boot. John Kerry was LIED TO just the same as the rest of us. And all of your campaign rhetoric and lies and propaganda mean nothing. Zip. Nada. Goose Egg. Can’t you understand that this isn’t about winning a freakin’ election? This isn’t about Democrat or Republican. This is about the FACT that while BushCo try to prove to the world that they have the biggest schlong, people are being murdered, maimed, ripped to bloody pieces – and not just American soldiers.

This is the work of “Compassionate Conservatives.” This is the result when oil = power at any cost. This is the work of your precious G.Dub and his highly esteemed staff.

I guess killing folks who aren’t inside you is okay, huh? Or maybe it’s okay if they're in a foreign country? Maybe it’s okay if we only maim and kill the BROWN people? So I guess the Neocon version of “right-to-life” starts at conception and ends at birth? What would Jesus do, my lily white ass! The next time I see one of you jackals picketing outside an abortion clinic with some horrific picture of a bloody fetus, I’m going to whip out one of these pictures. NOT IN MY NAME you detestable, know-nothing jackasses!

There isn’t one single, solitary thing that Kerry “would have done” that would even COMPARE to the damage BushCo has already done to the good name of America and its citizens. The abhorrent actions and resulting injury to our PLANET executed by G.W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Karl Rove et al will take years to repair. I can’t even venture an estimate. For that reason and that reason alone Shrubya does not deserve to be our president for another four years and THAT – you thickheaded shortsighted simpletons – is why I’m sorry. These men are not leaders. They are criminals. I am quite frankly dumbfounded that you cannot see it.

You’re Goddamn right I’m sorry. I’m ashamed he’s our president. I’m heartbroken. I’m angry. I’m mortified. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY AND IT IS WITH THE UTMOST PATRIOTISM THAT I WILL NEVER CEASE QUESTIONING THE OBDURATE ACTIONS OF THIS ADMINISTRATION. WHY? Because you mindless, heartless jerks, PEOPLE ARE DEAD. PEOPLE ARE DYING. NOW. AND NOW. AND NOW. AND NOW. AND, oh yea, NOW. And every freaking minute of the live-long day for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON and Bushco is to blame. Don’t talk to me about “moral values.” Where is your OUTRAGE at the inhumanity?!

Offended by my language? Interesting. You know what I find offensive? (Besides your monumental ignorance.) This. Offended by my anger? Well too bad. I will not apologize for being angry. This is a very human (and yes, passionate) response to the destruction visited on mankind by The President of the United States and his Administration because they are thoroughly, completely and astoundingly INCOMPETENT as well as loathsome and self-serving.

And although the War in Iraq is but ONE of the colossal blunders carried out by the Busheviks, THAT, you dangerously misinformed and myopic trolls, is more than enough reason to be REALLY, REALLY, INCREDIBLY SORRY.

I hope this clears things up for you. I, however, harbor no illusion that you will grasp any of it. I do thank God that I live in a country where I am able to state my opinion without fear of retribution from my government – for the time being anyway. And I am grateful to the geeks who made the internet a reality for the forum in which I could share my point of view. Whether or not others comprehend the depth of my sorrow for this country and the origin of that sorrow, I needed to express it.

Bravo, but apparently we are more interested and more outraged in nakedness prior to Monday Night Fottball.

when did this country lose its way? lose its soul? Lose its fucking mind?

A little remainder too for the "guests" in Guantánamo...

Damn, Kerry! Might I suggest the decaf next time? Seriously spot on though and very well said.

Two points.

1. Not me.
2. Lulu rocks.

Posted by: kerry at November 18, 2004 03:56 AM

How sad that he was re-elected. I dont understand it; it is obvious to so many people that he and his crew are blood-thirsty, UN-compassionate idiots.

Bush - still not my president.

Thanks Kerry! Thanks for giving me the forum.

Thank you everyone else for your words of approval and agreement. It's comforting to have friends out there in the reality-based community! We'll make it through this together.

wow, thanks for doing my work for me. I've had a rant like that building up for awhile but there's no point in it now. you rock. but I forgot to fasten my seatbelt despite your warning so expect a note from my trahl lawyah any day now. hey, this is the way the Market (triumphal theme) works, bucko.

Busheviks? Isn't that a play on the party of the proletariate? A little contradictory, ya think?

I am a Rep. who voted for Kerry for the reasons that you post. Many others would have voted for the Democrat if these things would have been brought up (or focused on) during the campaigning. Not just on cable and the blogs, but on the networks.Good rant.

Posted by: CB at November 18, 2004 06:25 AM

Also, this is the stuff that needs to be told. These are the things that need to be addressed. Don't be diverted arguing against marraige or abortion, the war is the topic that should be on everyones minds.

This is much like Vietnam, a war that happened on TV, without anything tangible affecting the people back home. It promotes a combination of apathy, false hope and a fake reality that is presented to us throught he media.

Posted by: CB at November 18, 2004 06:37 AM

Thanks CB.

Actually, I don't see the Bolshevik/Bushevik comparison as contradictory as all. The Bolsheviks were an extremist wing of their party that seized power in their country. The right-wing radical fundamentalist Christians are the extremist wing of the Republican party who are siezing control of this country. The Bolsheviks were indeed the party of the proletariat. Republicans today have become the party of the proletariat. By using divisive wedge issues like abortion and gay rights the Republicans have convinced the poorest citizens in the lowest social and economic class to vote to their own detriment. These similarities make the Bushevik moniker appropriate.

Posted by: Lulu at November 18, 2004 06:58 AM

I feel your pain and frustration, especially towards the pride fully ignorant,"W" is Jebus crowd, that are going to be praising the Lord and speaking in tongues when Bush appoints himself Chancellor.
The real blame lies at the feet of the hierarchy
of the Democratic Party. Who the fuck was John Kerry in December 2003? Wasn't Dean to be our nominee? Wasn't he a hammer of opposition to the feeble-minded boy emperor? Wasn't Kerry a back burner "all that is wrong with our party" loser
in the same league with Dick "Loser" Gephardt who happened to be whipping his ass.
Until we take charge of the Party at the State and National level, you can feel confident that these pussies will keep giving away the Republic.
And for Koresh sakes, don't let Karl Rove pick our next nominee.
Karl Rove about Dean: "He's the one we want", translation: "Holy shit this guy is an animal, and he can win"

Democrats: "Dean can't win"

Karl Rove on Kerry: "Hopefully John Kerry won't be nominated, he would pose the greatest threat to re-election"
translation: We'll plow Kerry over with our swiftboat.

Democrats: Mr. Rove is afraid of Kerry, let's allow two tiny states to make him our nominee.

One last thing. If Kerry was lied to, it didn't excuse Congress from abdicating their Constitutional duty to declare war. If the President had evidence, he would have asked for a formal Declaration, thus being culpable to criminal prosecution for perjury. This was not the case, and now no one will take responsibility. That's why everyone who voted for the Iraq resolution should be indicted for treason, along with the criminally insane Bush Crime Family.

Posted by: Andy at November 18, 2004 06:58 AM

The above Andy is not me. It's another Andy. I didn't agree with one single bit of the vile trash that Lulu spewed out. She, as so many of her kind do, neglected the entire other side of the story. But, hey this is America and although she hasn't the courage to anything more than somewhat anonymously vent vile garbage heavily laced with profanity demonstrating her intelligence quotient to be that of the trailer park trash she so vehemently despises for reelecting Bush, she does have a right to her feelings and emotions and the right to express them without fear of retribution. George W. Bush has too much class to even worry about mindless bile spewed by the likes of the bitter left. War sucks but then if we left it to the likes of Lulu we would buy tea and crumpets for those who seek to do us harm, invite them into our country to fly planes into buildings, and simply, compassionlately love them for hating us. But, as a conservative I would have no idea that war sucked without someone posting link after link to pictures of the dead and the wounded.

I'm very disappointed that Kerry allowed the 101st monkey to post such bitter, angry, disgusting, tasteless, and vile garbage at an otherwise somewhat intelligent, though very slanted, blog.

I just wanted to make sure that Lulu, who I've had less than intelligent exchanges with on occasion, did not confuse the Andy above with me and go to be tonight thinking she had somehow managed to convince a conservative that he was wrong for voting for George W. Bush. The Andy above is as confused as most of the rest of the left.

Posted by: andy-the-right at November 18, 2004 10:14 AM

No Andy, you're confused. Bush was on watch when planes flew into buildings. We used to intercept suspect aircraft within 15 minutes (Payne Stuart)when we had an elected President. We identified, tried, and prosecuted terrorist under Clinton's watch(Ramsey Ucef). As a matter of fact, the terrorist didn't dare execute the plan they had drawn up at the begining of Clinton's second term
until monkey nuts was installed.
See, in a fascist dicatatorship, up is down, and black is white. Somehow, the greatest inaction, and derelection of duty in history has somehow
warranted the re-election, instead of the prosecution, of a twit.
Get this, monkey. Bush ain't a cowboy, he is afraid of horses. He ain't smart; his daddy bought him a degree. He ain't classy; he picks his nose in public. He has no command of any language, including our own. We are witnessing the end of the Republic, that I, and many others served to protect. Why? Because alot of dumb asses think this a goddamn Redskin & Cowboy game
and are just rooting for their favorite team.
Or worse, they have extreme phobias, "and just hate niggers and queers, and gosh darn't Dubya does too" which the Right has cultivated into a deadly coalition of hate filled brown shirts.
No Andy, it is you who are confused.
P.S.
Stop listening to Hannity and Rush, and think.

Posted by: Andy at November 18, 2004 11:35 AM

Dear Andy@dakzoo.com,

Oh Andy, I am so flattered that you are THIS concerned about what I may think of YOU! How sweet! You made my day.

Kisses,
Lulu :-)

Posted by: Lulu at November 18, 2004 12:11 PM

Andy-the-left - it is you that are confused. WTC93, USS Cole, embassy bombings, Marine Barrack bombing in Saudi, Somalia - ALL HAPPENED ON CLINTON'S WATCH and he did NOTHING thus emboldening Al Qaeda to attack again and again. Clinton had opportunities to capture and/or kill OBL but chose not to because he didn't believe he was prosecutable nor was willing to assassinate him. We elected the president thus this is not a fascist dictatorship and if you knew what you were talking about you'd not even use the word fascist. The only people I ever hear using words like "nigger and queer" are liberals attempting to mock conservatives they don't understand. I don't listen to Rush now and never have. I rarely listen to Hannity and often find that I don't particularly care for his ultra-right conservative mumbo-jumbo. I am a realist. I recognize that the islamic extremist will hate us no matter how tolerant we are. I recognize that very little is a matter of black and white or up and down. I recognize that inaction will only lead to another large loss of life in America. I would've voted against Bush if only your side could've put forth a better candidate. You put forth a candidate that had more sides than a D&D die and more faces than a clock factory. Kerry's inaction for 20 years in the senate would've been matched for inaction in the White House for 4 years. You don't get it. It wasn't even the war that got Bush re-elected. It was values and security and 53% of America doesn't believe the left has values nor can provide the United States security to prevent another attack on our soil.

And Lulu .. I'm glad I made your day. Now maybe you'll be a little less bitter about being a Kerry supporting loser. I apologize for giving you the false illusion that I care one iota about you.

I'm done here. I'll not be returning because a once bastion of intelligence and liberal viewpoints that I used to balance the conservatism I find in other sites has become a bunch of bitter losers with nothing positive to say. I'm done here because I don't have the time or energy to fight the good fight with people who are anti-American at heart hiding behind the Constitution and declaring themselves to be patriots. I'm done here because you have finally succeeded in convincing me, beyond any shadow of doubt, that the pundits at the NRO and Townhall and on Fox News Channel are, in fact, correct. You all have served their purpose better than any writings of their own.

Goodbye and God Bless America and George W. Bush.

Hey Felicity and Andy a.k.a. Rexmundi44,

ROFL! Checking in upon returning from a meeting and I'm laughing my ass off! Were you two being mean to the poor monkey? Huh? Come on now, tell the truth. hahaha. I'm reminded of that old saw, "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig."

DAMN! That Rove Machine programming is freakin' HARD WIRED, idn't it? Welcome to Stepford!

Posted by: Lulu at November 18, 2004 07:02 PM

Lulu,
You were fast in MS but turned into a killer in TX! Damn, that was a fun exchange! Too bad Kerry didn't have you on his campaign. Rove and bush would be unemployed, now!

Posted by: Joe at November 19, 2004 03:48 AM

So you succeeded in pushing a conservative further to the right by insulting him? Name calling wins no one over to your cause. You are horrible spokesfolks for your cause. And how exactly are insults like 'festering hemorrhoidal assholes', 'detestable,know-nothing jackasses', 'mindless, heartless jerks', and 'dangerously misinformed and myopic trolls' furthering your agenda and ideological perspective? How does accusing one of not being able to think for themselves while offering nothing that hasn't already been said by 1001 liberal pundits and mouthpieces justify your point of view?

Insults and ad hominem attacks devalue debate. You should all be very ashamed of who you are. The attacks and insults harm our cause far more than the conservative pundits with all their radio air time and book deals.

Posted by: Tommy F. at November 19, 2004 05:53 AM

instead of using 'dangerously misinformed and myopic trolls', she could have said "willfully ignorant or devoid of rationale thought or violently ideological or mad cows in a china shop or trigger happy jesus freaks or or or... remember, this is a president who invaded a nation, got the secondary/tertiary target, still has troops on the ground and now that the people who were to be freed are rising up, referring to them now as terrorists. if the language offends, stop reading. if the passion is too heavy you might want to investigate whether it's hitting too close to home for you.

Posted by: kerry at November 19, 2004 07:14 AM

Tommy, right or wrong the GOP win election after
election by yelling, screaming, name calling, cheating, stealing, lying, and down right thuggery. And as a result, they've convinced Bubba
to gladly participate in his own screwing.
Like it or not, political discourse in this country has digressed to nothing more than a WWF Smackdown. We can either take the high road, and let our Republic be destroyed, or we can get down in it, and save our Nation.
And so far as Andy, don't worry about him. Monkey's only understand an ass whipping.
Right now he is sitting and home in a dark room with his pants around his ankles, listening to Rush, reliving every second of the Ken Starr investigation. He is a lost cause.
The people we need to reach, are the ones who start thinking about politics in october of election years. And who are they gonna vote for;
Stone Cold, or Alan Colmes?

Posted by: Andy at November 19, 2004 07:29 AM

Hey Joe! Thanks Bud. Did you read "Top Billings" yet? They mention Kallispell. (Okay, they mention the one-terminal airport there.) Congrats on your new Governor! That is SO awesome!

Posted by: Lulu at November 19, 2004 09:58 AM

Wow! Is this still going? Cool!

Thank you, Tommy F., for proving my point. As I said (if you had bothered to read it), "I, however, harbor no illusion that you will grasp any of it."

Who said I was trying to "win over" any of you right-wing fanatics? How utterly futile. (Note previous comment, “Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.”) You see, I'm smart enough to realize that it cannot be done. Your programming by the Republican Marketing Tool (never has there been a more suitable application of the word “tool”) is so embedded, so completely hard-wired it's as if Rove surgically implanted a chip in the back of each of your tell-me-what-to-do-father heads. Your comments, as well as those of Andy-the-Frightened, are so on message with Bushco it’s instantaneously evident who installed your software. It is no longer possible to carry on an intelligent debate with any of you since you find the facts irrelevant. The machine TOLD you the facts don’t matter and you follow their instructions to the letter. “Must listen to my master. Must do what I am told. Must regurgitate message. Four more years! Heil! Heil! Heil!” It's pathetic that you don't even know enough to be embarrassed.

Now, a message for my buds in the reality-based community. Dems can’t rescue the Stepford people and shouldn’t try. Talking to them is a waste of our time. WE are in the majority. Check this out. John Kerry won every city with a population above 500,000. He took half the cities with populations between 50,000 and 500,000. The future success of liberalism is tied to winning the cities. (And that’s NOT to say that there aren’t additional liberals in the ‘burbs or even rural areas. I do not reside within the city limits and neither do any of my friends. But, overwhelmingly, those who advocate liberal and progressive policies reside in America’s cities.) So that's what John Kerry achieved without even making the cities his focus. Now, according to the 2000 Census, 226 million people reside inside metropolitan areas while 55 million people live outside those metro areas. Dems need only focus on URBAN issues and promote our shared progressive values to win a majority vote next time around. (Okay DNC, are you getting all of this?) Because we can easily unite people living in cities with each other and the simpletons need not enter into the equation. Democrats should tend and cater to their urban base and grow it. THIS should be our frame in the same way that narrow-minded, bible-thumping, radical fundamentalist Christianity is the GOP frame. In the meantime, we stay engaged in our cities, and make our voices heard in the urban areas we dominate. But most certainly, we cannot afford to waste our time and energy on Bush/Cheney/Rove automatons. They are broken people who cannot be fixed. They are addicted to fear. Those people aren’t worth saving. It’s much more important for us to save democracy than try to teach pigs to sing.

Posted by: Lulu at November 19, 2004 01:11 PM

You are so intelligent. Your rhetoric is so deep and so compassionate. Your ideology is all that the world needs to be in order to be eutopia. You are the most wonderful group of people in the world. Everyone should share your viewpoints as they are so perfect and dissent cannot be tolerated. Your mockery of all that dissent is proof positive of your superiority. Keep fighting the good fight and one day you will win and Koffi Anan will be elected President of the United Countries of The Big Blue Marble. The world will be full of love and all the bad men in the world will simply lay down the arms as your ideology of peace, love, and entitlements from birth will win them over. All hail the left. All hail the United Nations. All hail Lulu.

Posted by: Richard C at November 19, 2004 03:40 PM

Lulu is so smart. She so rocks. That vent was deep and full of thought and emotion. Lulu should run for President in 2008! Or at least run as Hillary's VP! Yes! That's it! Kerry can be the Secretary of State. Andy (not the stupid conservative one that slunk off to play with his wanker while listening to Rush, but the enlightened one) perhaps could be the Secretary of Defense. Bea with all of her liberalism and compassion would make the perfect Secretary of H&HS. CB's not good for much, but we can always give him the Dept. of Homeland Security since in the perfect liberal world we'll not need security at home. And that post above about frames and urban voters is fresh and original. Wow. What a great place full of great people.
