Mini Soapbox

Dear Meester Boooooosh,

Failing to meet with and ignoring Yassir Arafat while waiting out the Vegas odds on his life expectancy, is not international relations or a roadmap to peace. The subsequent elections held by the Palestinians, also had nothing to do with your administration or its influence. Abbas' meeting with Sharon, also not your success. Shit does not magically appear out of thin air in a vacuum.

Lebanon. Until you can pronounce it, no one will *ever* believe you had dick to do with change. Syria's decision to pull back, did not occur because you blathered on at a SSA "change rally". The death of Rafik Hariri, you can claim that if you want. The resignation of Omar Karami... again, not you. Then again, the rise of Hezbollah influence in the streets may indicate you did, in fact, have a slight peripherial role.

Fascinating as it may seem, evolution within other governments occurs without US influence. Sometimes, even at a rate visible to the human eye. Because you believe you've been placed in a position by a higher power doesn't mean anyone else is convinced or that your policies are even that far-reaching. Trust me, God told me yesterday that he thinks you're an out of control, weasel-assed shirker with a bit of a Napoleon complex.

Before you rush to celebrate your perceived impact on the changes occuring within the borders of other independant nations, take a look at the changes you've implemented within your own. Think back, which previous empires have worked this hard to undercut the many for the benefit of the few?

Think back, which previous empires have worked this hard to undercut the many for the benefit of the few?

A follow-up question: And how long did those empires last until the bloody revolts began?

(Hey, since it's the 21st century, our guillotines will have those nifty red laser-guided cutting lines on the necks of the aristocracy. Cool.)
