Death Reform
Washington DC: (SNAFU) In an unprecedented move, President Bush cut short his Crawford-esque weekend to try and save a post-uterus life and expand, yet again, the broad reach and scope of government control. Conservative members of both houses rallied around the on-going saga as they gave birth to new legislation that dips even further into removing the rights of an individual and the privacy of personal choice. After being asked, "How he resolved the seeming disparity in policy between the intervention in the Schaivo case and the willful dismissal of many other Americans who need health care and cannot obtain it", Bush waved vigorously and shouted "God Bless Us, Everyone", and then headed off to Arizona to resume pushing for Social Security reform.
The Face of Compassion

Does Tom Delay remind anyone else of Joe Pesci in the movie "Goodfellas"?
Posted by: Moonshine at March 21, 2005 11:36 AMJust when you thought the right wingers could sink no further, along comes this...turning the drooling, brain-dead shell of a person into spectacle...stripping away, in a public show of defending the dignity of her life, any last shred of dignity her life might have had.
What possible issue hasn't been addressed already in eight years of litigation, that warrants extreme Congressional intervention? What will Congress do the next time some family can't deal with the fact that their loved one is gone for good? Will we have to go through a grotesque orgy like this again?
And if the Jesus freaks glom onto this issue, don't think you'll be safe just because you've got a living will. If you end up hooked up to a hugely expensive piece of modern technology designed to keep your blood pumping and your lungs breathing for decades after your brain stops working, then clearly it's because that's God's will...probably as punishment for your sins or as a test of your faith. And if it's God's will that you go on living in such a state, then we must all go along with that, regardless of what your little living will says.

How come no one asks DeLay how many people will have their tubes and plugs pulled because of the $15 billion cut in Medicaid pushed by DeLay last week?? Was the Palm Sunday bill an act of contrition?
Although I think it's sad and hope Terri well, it would be poetic justice to have her Medicaid funding run out before the case is settled. What we need, Mr. DeLay, is an Easter Miracle, Whip!
