As the self-proclaimed paragon of all that is democratic and the world's leader in human rights a vote of 90 to 9 in the Senate over banning torture is still embarassing.
Now, from the White House that brought us pre-emptive strikes on non-threatening nations and abdication when taxpaying citizens needed help the most, comes what could possibly be, the first veto in 5 years. Bush is, theoretically threatening to veto legislation that limits his ability to hurt people. Don't you miss compassionate conservativism?
