Dear Preznit Boosh,
You said, "We can expect the coming days will be intense. Iraq remains a serious situation." "But I'm optimistic, because the Iraqi people have spoken, and the Iraqi people made their intentions clear. ... They want their country to be a democracy."
and...
"This is a moment of choosing for the Iraqi people,"
Remember, their choices are limited. In a Democracy it's important for the reality to be, that everyone can succeed. As the "anticipated" intensification of the serious situation spirals out of control, the fact remains, that it was your short-sightedness that brought us to this position.

These mobs of angry and obviously unemployed men... how angry do you supppose they'd be if it was them on the receiving end of the rebuilding contracts instead of your administration's cronies?

Instead of hollow platitudes followed up by appalling inaction, try a run at giving them real tangible solutions. A plan, if you will. A timetable, for a lack of better words. A show of action that lets each and everyone of these Iraqis know that our actions really are altruistic and that once we've ensured that the people will be in charge of all aspects of the rebuilding, from the sewers to the parliament... maybe a slow cessation of violence will occur. It's the least you could do before the violence escalates to the point where you're referring to all Iraqis as terrorists and insurgents.
Couldn't hurt to try.
