WASHINGTON - President Bush on Tuesday ordered a temporary suspension of environmental rules for gasoline, making it easier for refiners to meet demand and possibly dampen prices at the pump. He also halted for the summer the purchase of crude oil for the government's emergency reserve.(...)
Easing the environment rules will allow refiners greater flexibility in providing oil supplies since they will not have to use certain additives such as ethanol to meet clean air standards. The suspension of oil purchases for the federal emergency oil reserve is likely to have only modest impact since relative little extra oil will be involved.
In order to address airline concerns over flight schedules, Bush has implemented a reduction in the number of air traffic controllers required in each air tower. To energize coal production all safety measures for ventilation have been lifted until further notice. American's need meat faster and to reduce production overhead, regular FDA inspections have been halted and for good measure, another tax cut ought to right the deficit within six months.
Am I the only one willing to pay the higher prices to keep regulation in place? Apparently the concern isn't over price gouging but a way to manipulate the system to eliminate any and all oversight. Windfall profit tax anyone?
