Why has news almost become a self-parody? Why does it seem there's less and less quality in each night's broadcast? How is it that Nancy Grace, Rita Cosby et al manage to qualify as pundits/journalists?

24 hour news cycles. It's not about quality, just quanity. As illustrated below, you truly can, have too much of a good thing and an ungodly amount of a bad thing.
