Cracked Eggs in the Chickenhawk Nest

Quotables from a couple of the finer supporters of the manufactured Iraqi war that's being funded by the Chinese, fought by our men and women and still completely strategy-free.

Sure, anti-war candidate Ned Lamont beat Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., in the Democratic primary. But look at Lamont's "strategy" for the war in Iraq. He calls for a "phased pullout" of troops. A "phased pullout"?

Larry's more of the phased stay-in type. Just keep us there indefinitely or at least until the insurgency we fired up and continue to fuel dies out on it's own? Maybe just until the corruption, embezzling, cost overrun and subsequent interest on our inevitable debt becomes too much to sustain.

To wit, they're claiming there is no connection between the war on terror and the war in Iraq, and while they're all for the war against terror -- absolutely in favor of that war -- they are adamantly opposed to the Iraq war. You know, the war where the U.S. military is killing thousands upon thousands of terrorists (described in the media as "Iraqi civilians," even if they are from Jordan, like the now-dead leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi). That war.

We liberals (like I f-ing speak for them... but if Ann can, so can I) support the GWOT as long as there's no confusing the Messopotamian boondoggle with the search for Osama and the erradication of the cause of terrorism. You can't fight an emotion, you actually have to address the cause. Most of all though I can really get behind a war in which Ann's support is coupled with active involvement and my civil liberties aren't erradicated under the guise of protecting my freedomses. I could also be tempted in getting behind investigating people who make idle threats like blowing up the NY Times building. Couple of years detention without charge might be in order. Something worth pondering.
