So which station last night led off with the JonBenet story non-story, gawrsh we got it all wrong news flash, asked why we spent so much money to drag Karr back to the US before the DNA and then cut to the deaths in Iraq, violence in Afghanistan, nukes in North Korea or any of the local elections?
None of them.
Instead, it was; John Mark Karr takes a piss, John Mark Karr is moved from facility A to facility B, John Mark Karr seems to have lost 3 pounds since arriving in Colorado, John Mark Karr video from 1992, John Mark Karr moved to California for some reason none of us are privy to but we're going to chat about it forever because it takes less effort than exposing the fact that we no longer have a correspondent on the ground in Baghdad.
The media is voluntarily complicit.
Posted by kerry at August 29, 2006 03:21 AMDon't forget the real story that got buried under all this...the finding by Judge Anna Diggs Taylor that George Bush, with his illegal warrantless domestic surveillance program, is a real honest-to-goodness First-and-Fourth-Amendment-violating high-crimes-and-misdemeanors-committing CRIMINAL.
I don't know if John Mark Karr just fell from the sky into Dubya's lap, or if Karl Rove placed a perfectly-timed call on his bat-phone to Satan, but this non-story has completely diverted attention against the single most damaging piece of news to hit the Bush White House to date.
