Fly Consistent Airways

If it wasn't for the TSA, how would we know how inconsistent and arbitrary their rules were?

  • Leaving DFW, a coffee purchased in the airport can be taken onto the plane. Leaving KCI, you must throw your piping hot Starbucks into the trash.
  • After removing laptop, backpack at DFW sails through the scan. In the KCI airport, Tiger Balm is a "threat".
  • At the DFW airport, no one blinks at .67oz of contact re-wetting drops. The KCI team believe you should "declare" it so as to eliminate the possibility you're trying to hide it.
  • Following customer shoe removal, one can pretty much sail through the metal detector in DFW. In KCI, zippered sweaters and belts are a no no.

Wouldn't we all feel safer if we knew one set of rules an standards were being applied? Arbitrary stupidity and decisions being left to the whim of the average TSA employee isn't going to do anything to protect us from real threats.

Tiger Balm is only a menace if you forget to wash your hands before rewetting your contacts, or unpacking your junk in the mensroom.
Ow!
