Selective Deconstruction

Four years into the GOP's manufactured cluster fuck in Iraq, the Democrats get to begin the slow machinations required to move both our war plans and international policies in a direction away from the ad hoc approach used to date. Anything different than the status quo of 'stay the course' and 'stand up/stand down' makes some individuals nervous. Makes sense though to some degree as it's spooky when light is used to expose ineptitude and failure.

Who's protesting loudly this week?

Please explain something to me. What is this obsession that liberals have with seeing America destroyed?

Why are they so intent on humiliating their fellow citizens? And why don't they have at least some modicum of pride about the greatest nation the world has ever produced?

In other words, why are they so insistent on seeing America pummeled?

We don't. We actually believe it's important that ALL of America succeed which is why we'd like to see Bush plan his war, fund NCLB, bring in some revenue to offset the war costs and actually show a whit of accountability. It'd also be refreshing to see the level of discourse raised so high Rush and O'Reilly can't reach it. Our pride in America is so strong, we're appalled to see how tarnished the last 6 years has made our reputation. Who's pummelling America, really?

It is clear from the way they recoil when someone refers to them as "anti-American" or "unpatriotic" that there is a piece of them (however insignificantly tiny) that does not wish to be classified as such.

But I cannot for the life of me comprehend why they are so offended. It seems to me that if you love your country, that you love it most when it faces its toughest challenges. But this is not the case with John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emmanuel, and the other 215 that first authored, then voted for, the bill that would hand over victory to the terrorists we have been battling so hard to defeat since 9/11.

When you classify behavior as anti-anything, one naturally recoils... being against the war in Iraq is not anti-American nor is the desire to see us stop throwing money at a fuck-up we created and have no clue how to solve, unpatriotic. In case you weren't paying attention when they listed the country of origin for those who attacked us on 9/11... IRAQ WAS NOT LISTED!!!!

In their own echo-chamber vanity Murtha, Pelosi and company believe themselves to be smarter than the commanders of the operations in the war on terror. And they believe that we will sit mesmerized, like sheep, while they single-handedly attempt to give the terrorists a date for victory - August 31, 2008.

But they didn't just author defeat - they campaigned for it.

In his own echo-chamber Bush and company believed himself smarter than the commanders in the field, giving them less than effective protection, less than required numbers of troops and no plan for success. The American public sat mesmerized by the audacity and hubris while being referred to as unpatriotic when they dared question the piss poor planning.

And that is when the $96 million dollar supplement began to expand like Murtha's waistline. When it was finally passed it had ballooned to nearly $124 million.

Now don't get me wrong - I think that spending more on defense is nearly always a good thing. The problem with this evolving spending measure was that it was all about the pork. The additional $28 million added to the bill was the price of all the "gimmes" that Democrat leadership was forced to pony up just to bribe, er... buy, scratch that... secure the reluctant congressional members’ votes. And by increasing the price tag by more than an additional one fourth of the monies of the original supplement, they were only able to get 218 votes - the barest of bare minimums to get the measure passed.

We're ~$500 billion into this boondoggle and there's consternation over $28 million? We've seen absolutely no fiscal oversight of expenditures, no accountability whatsoever and now that a bill gets a 25% increase bump, the Democrats become tax&spenders again?

So not only did the Democrats author a resolution that called for the terrorists to claim victory on August 31, 2008, not only did they twist arms of lower ranking members to get them on board, now they were willing to spend the money that you and I are sending them by way of our tax bill - to fund the effort to buy congressional members' loyalty to the concept of the terrorists winning.

Am I the only one in America that thinks this is truly, dastardly, diabolically - sick?

Yes, yes you are. The rest of use believe Paul Bremer's receipt of the Congressional Medal of Freedom to be dastardly, diabolical and sick. Where was the GOP's shill's outrage over the previous "emergency" spending measures?

Personally I believe I work far too many hours, for not nearly enough money, to be paying the exorbitant amount of taxes - to only have them be used against the safety and welfare of my family.

How do these people sleep at night?

Please tell me your many hours invested didn't result in this screed. By spending the previously allotted funds in Iraq, your precious leader did a faboo job of making you less safe.

We sleep comfortably at night because we're not wrestling with the void left by the loss of integrity that comes with being a shill for such unredeemable behavior.

It is one thing to attempt to a have a philosophical position that spouts platitudes about the violence of our world. It's another to be against war as a general principle and long for the day when conflicts can truly be decided by judgment and fair play.

But when we have sinister forces on earth that seek our destruction and we have members of Congress who instead of representing the safety, security, and freedoms of America - decide instead to take our own income and bankroll our future destruction, then somebody, somewhere has to say something!

What if the war enhances the violence of our world? What if the ultimate solution in many situations doesn't involve bombing people back to the stone age and we're too myopic to realize it?

Our income HAS been used to bankroll destruction or do you not watch the news? Six years the President and his rubber-stamping cabal of thugs have been wiping their asses with the Constitution, ignoring those they disagree with and bombing the rest. We said something and voted them out last November. Pay Attention!

Fortunately we have a President who will have the judgment to veto this measure. But I am still greatly disturbed by the fact that the "People's House" of those who represent us, are so eager to wave the flag of surrender. They could not telegraph any more precisely how they would like to see us lose, and the terrorists win, than by putting a date on a piece of legislation for total terrorist victory… And they did it before our watching eyes.

Ah yes, Preznit "stay the course" Bush... who's completely and totally unwilling to waver from his initial plan not to plan. When the alternative is to place goals around the "stand up vs. standing down" approach they scurry like roaches in light. It is horrific, the degree to which we've already lost. It's appalling to see how we set ourselves up for failure while blindly declaring success. We should be ashamed at the overwhelming loss of civil liberties we've lost in the name of freedom and the terror we ourselves have inflicted in the name of democracy. Don't waggle fingers in mock righteous indignation until the Geneva Convention's no longer referred to by the administration as quaint.

It is unwise to believe that 218 congressional members know more about the situation on the ground than the commanders who serve us without political bias or corruption.

It is unsafe to surrender the type of staging ground Iraq would become if we were to leave the terrorists there unmolested and undefeated.

It is un-American to act in the interest of our enemies.

It is unpatriotic (against one’s love for one’s own country) to legislate, campaign in favor of, and bribe representatives to vote for defeat.

And it is unacceptable that Democrats spit on “We The People” in this fashion.

Un-American is cutting funding for troop recovery and under-providing for the casualties of war. It is unpatriotic not to earmark funds for and demand from manufacturers, Humvee replacements. It is unfair to the troops to use them as props while refusing to provide them with a plan for success. In the interest of our enemies... includes skipping through the bluebonnets with Saudis while declaring Iraqis terrorists. it was unsafe to not secure Baghdad and truly work to win the hearts and minds rather than focus on the Ministry of Oil and bales of unaccounted for $100 bills while delivering all rebuilding contracts to non-Iraqis.

It is patriotic to demand accountability and planning from the CEO in Chief. Us 'We's the People' voted the Democrats in to do precisely what they are doing and their actions aren't saliva related, figuratively or realistically. Failure to question the questionable leadership is unpatriotic and un-American as is the loss of liberties and freedom under the guise of protection.

Your bucket of water is slopping out on our floor... set it down.
