Thought for the day:
Is it more rude to take your cell phone into a public restroom (w/ringer on) or to answer it when it rings?
My son's first trip to the Texas State Fair landed him a picture on the Dallas Morning News website.

We can't balance the federal budget, but we can spend upwards of $200 million on a media blitz to convince the world that war with Iraq is a swell idea?
techno tragedy - haiku
snap, click, boing, crack..............crap!
Digital camera bounced
take pics I cannot
The "Target-ing" of Saddam Hussein.

Apparently 2/3 of Americans are for attacking Iraq. The poll consisted of 1000 persons. I suspect that the 800 who protested over the weekend in California were not part of that inquiry.
"Our deepest national conviction is that every life is
precious, because every life is the gift of a creator
who intended us to live in liberty and equality," - George W. Bush 9.11.2002
that is to say, unless we don't like you, you're an inner-city dweller on welfare or haven't funded our campaign.
Definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction............now all of this wouldn't be a smoke screen, would it?
On a more frivolous note: anyone up for a putty pool?
Could it be? Our government wouldn't lie to us, would they?
Time to use that zero tolerance policy we seem to love so much. No more public housing for the governor or Florida, I say.
Boot.
Cognitive Dissonance.
The families of the victims of the WTC are now critical of the government's approach to protecting the Fatherland? Amazing. Could it be a result of the slow government payouts or they truly are concerned citizens who are alert enough to realize our knee-jerk reactionary congress-critters passed an unread bill that serves only to errode our civil and human rights?
Off to Iraq kids.
When the going gets tough, the weak divert attention. We've now got a governmental budget that's destined to see a deficit until at least 2006, a tax cut that's not benefitting anyone I know, a push to privatize Social Security in a bear market (post bubble), the FBI's investigating Senators who in turn are reviewing the FBI's inept handling of terrorist information, funding of social institutions has been drastically cut and we can't even count votes correctly. What to do, what to do? Quoting KMFDM out of context, "Bomb the livin' bejeezus out of those forces"........
Slowing consumer confidence? Bomb Iraq.
Popularity dipping in the polls? Bomb Iraq.
Stock market tanking? Bomb Iraq.
No strong domestic policy? Bomb Iraq.
Choking on a pretzel? Bomb Iraq.
What's the high water mark for weaponry before it's considered a WMD? Is there a point in bombing a country suspected of creating WMD that the US could actually be guilty of the same crime we're so dead-set on "punishing"?
I'm not much for the mass media "glut" approach to the 9/11 tragedy. However, this tribute to the towers is quite powerful. I'm still quite partial to my grainy b&w image taken from the Staten Island ferry.
Stupid Corporate Emails 101
To: All Employees
From: Corporate and Systems Security
Subject: Sept 11 Anniversary Precautions
As the one-year anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks draws near, employees at all levels around the world are uneasy about what may unfold on that date. Already, the number of transatlantic flights scheduled for September 11, 2002, has been reduced significantly due to the reluctance of passengers to travel on that date.
We stress that there is no credible and authoritative information as to what kinds of attacks, if any, might be staged. Corporate Security continues to monitor both public and privileged sources in case this situation changes.
Government, business and media representatives around the world offer similar advice as the first anniversary approaches: go about your business as normal, but be aware of your environment.
Repeat after me.
Now I lay me down to sleep..................................................
It is important that every meal be enjoyed. Especially if it's your first one with semi-solid food.

Labor Day.
Wasn't this holiday designed as a time for rest and relaxation? Maybe that was for apartment dwellers with no kids. Cutting limbs, cleaning the pool and arranging closets are activities that should be outsourced and not performed on three day weekends. I'll keep the feedings, diaper changings and vaccuming just so that I feel productive. I need time. Time for creativity, sleeping and a little wind in my hair.
What a good idea. Let's all donate our time to the Democratic Party..........and maybe elect a president in 2004.
